The Making of Sarah Lee {Christine Kay, Chicago Wedding Photographer}

I think it’s fair to say that it isn’t very often that a wedding photographer has tears in her eyes the day *before* the wedding! Being the sappy girl that I am, it is not at all uncommon for me to have wet eyes during the ceremony, but I’d have to say this was a first for even me! This wedding was *that* special. I’ve known Sarah since high school. She is the little sister of one of my good friends. When I heard the news that she was engaged, I was completely thrilled for her!  She has waited a long time to find Mr. Right and I knew this man must be very special to have captured her heart. The more I get to know Jimmy, the more I learn that he not only is a really wonderful man, but the perfect match for Sarah. And when two very different people come together and compliment each other as much as Jimmy and Sarah do, it really is the most fantastic of all the stories.

It all started one day when Jimmy’s friend (and Sarah’s roommate!) left her Facebook page open. (Yes, this is where the story starts!) As Jimmy walked by the computer, he immediately noticed a picture of Sarah and asked about her. He wanted to meet her, but didn’t want it to be weird. Something about her picture compelled him. She took his breath away. He was intrigued. Motivated by these unexpected feelings, he found a way to “bump into her” at an upcoming conference.

When she first met Jimmy, she wasn’t sure what she thought. She didn’t know if she thought of him positively, negatively, . . .  she just didn’t quite know what to think of him. His persistent attention paid off though and soon the two were dating. This isn’t one of those typical storybook romances though. Several times, Sarah attempted to break things off – once successfully. Sarah had been single for so long she just wasn’t sure about Jimmy and their future together. She was confused. Jimmy remained relentless in his love and patiently loved her with a consistency that Sarah had never experienced before, even when she was being {in her own words} – a jerk. He was really starting to “get” to her. He had her and her independent ways pegged and knew just how to love her to show her that *she* needed him too. It was his steadfast love that beckoned her and eventually won her over with every ounce of her being.

Sarah’s speech at the wedding was one of the most heartfelt and touching speeches I have ever heard from a bride. She raved about Jimmy and about God who had brought the two of them together in His perfect timing. As she soaked in the significance of the day and the reality of this ultimate gift of her husband, she tearfully shared how Jimmy was an answer to her prayers that she had been praying for a long time. Easing the emotional tension, Jimmy quickly grabbed the mic and cracked, “I know all of you who know me well are thinking- “Wait, *JIMMY* is the answer to somebody’s prayer!?!? Way to take one for the team, Sarah!” 🙂 Haha. I love this guy!

Sarah, you truly have met your match, your perfect match. *Pause.* And now you have me teary again. . .

Congratulations to you both, Sarah and Jimmy, the new Mr. and Mrs. Lee!

The morning started off at sunrise. As I drove down Lakeshore Drive and saw the gorgeous sky, I knew I had to pull over and snag a quick pic for Jimmy and Sarah.

The next couple of images require a bit of explanation. Jimmy is border-line obsessed with Batman. I’ve even heard that Jimmy thinks he *is* Batman. He has always joked about finding his “Robin”. (You can see where this is going . . . )

On a Sunday afternoon while sitting on the porch, Jimmy handed Sarah a list of the top 10 things he loved about her. Then he told her he had something else for her and handed her a Robin figurine.

Thrown off, Sarah thought to herself, “You are such a nerd.”

Jimmy reached into his pocket. “Oh, and one more thing.”

(Showing ring, down on one knee, cue gasp!)

“Will you be my Robin?”

🙂 Haha. These are for you, Jimmy . . .

Holy Matrimony, Batman! She said “Yes!”

All the best to you, Jimmy and Sarah! I couldn’t be more happy for the two of you.

We’re friends of Jimmy who attended the wedding. Not only are your photos amazing, your excellent writing encapsulated their story perfectly. Too bad we live in CO, otherwise I would come up with a project to hire you! God Bless!
