On Becoming (Christine Kay, Chicago Newborn Photographer)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there’s just something about a firstborn. That *one* who comes into the world and forever changes everything. Becoming a dad. Becoming a mom. Please, someone explain to me how it feels like you are . . . loving for the very first time . . . I suppose it’s because the love you feel is so deep, so sudden, so sure – that it somehow seems unfamiliar. . . Yes, the love is a mystery. And a thing to behold.

This little guy was just 10 days old when I photographed him in his home. Newborn sessions, to me, are all about capturing the profound beauty of the new life, the wonder of the deep love of the parents, and the sweetness of “the itty-bitty” . . . itty-bitty toes, itty-bitty noses, itty-bitty yawns. There really is nothing else like it. 🙂

I think this looks like one of many “man-to-man chats”  to come . . . (I ADORE dads with their babies!)

Sweet moments from a long series I did at this angle . . . so many and each one tells it’s own little part of the story of parenthood. Here are two.

Andrew had a little fun with baby T’s toes . . . .

Sweet family time, interrupted by Knox (the one who *thought* he was the firstborn child! Hahaha!)

This one has to be my favorite. Cracks me up every time.

Knox- “Uh, what’s with the new guy?”

I could have posted a dozen funny ones of Knox. . . Couldn’t resist this pouty one. Poor Knox, baby! But there’s still love leftover for you, don’t worry!!

I saw these mugs in the entry way and knew I had to capture them. I think they make for some great parenting advice, wouldn’t you say?!

Congratulations, Andrew and Stacy! What a beautiful family!
